Is SpicyChat safe? Billing, age checks and data controls for Dutch users

Three services to compare first

18+ only. This page covers an adult chat service built around fictional adult characters. Is SpicyChat safe enough to trust with your payment details and private role-play? That depends less on the characters than on how billing, age checks and deletion work. Before you sign up, it helps to look at three other services as well.

Nomi has a free plan with no end date and 50 messages per day. Free input is capped at 400 characters per message and paid input at 800, and you don't need a card for the free plan. The Standard plan is listed at US$15.99 per month or US$99.99 per year, in US dollars, with up to 10 companions. Nomi says plainly that chats are not end-to-end encrypted. That is a clear answer, even if it is not the one privacy-minded users hope for (checked 2026-10-28).

Janitor AI sells Janitor+ on the Dutch App Store at €14.99 per month or €99 per year. These are store listing prices, not a completed checkout. The listing has an 18+ rating, mentions in-app age assurance and is in English (checked 2026-10-28).

Secrets AI gives free accounts 20 sent messages per day, and the count resets 24 hours after the first message. Custom characters add 100 messages in total. Premium is US$19.99 monthly or US$109.99 yearly (checked 2026-10-29), and the refund terms describe a 14-day EU withdrawal window for the initial purchase (checked 2026-10-28). None of these facts amounts to a safety ranking by itself. The SpicyChat alternatives comparison puts the allowances and account terms side by side.

Page updated 2026-10-29. We checked prices, plan names, persona limits, payment notes, the deletion path and the Trustpilot snapshot on 2026-10-28, and the age-assurance guide and minimum-age rules on 2026-10-29. The price table reflects the update effective 2026-09-08. Reviews written before that date quote lower prices, and some give a smaller context figure for the top tier. Check the date of any claim you read elsewhere.

Euro prices, annual totals and payment methods

Since 2026-09-08, SpicyChat charges new subscribers the same numbers in euros as in US dollars. Get A Taste costs €5.95 per month or €60 per year. True Supporter costs €19.95 per month or €199.95 per year. I'm All In costs €29.95 per month or €299.95 per year (checked 2026-10-28). The schedule doesn't say whether these amounts already include Dutch BTW at 21%. The figure that counts is the total on your checkout summary, not the headline price.

Annual plans are paid in one go for the year, not in monthly instalments. Spread over twelve months they come to about €5.00, €16.66 and €25.00. That is €11.40, €39.45 and €59.45 less than twelve monthly payments on the same tier. You only save that money if you use the service for the whole year, and you pay the full amount up front. The price schedule lists only subscription tiers, so a normal month costs the plan price plus any tax the checkout adds.

Older reviews quote different numbers. One lists US$4.95, US$14.95 and US$24.95 per month, another US$4.95, US$13.95 and US$23.95. Those figures come from before the September 2026 update, which put the entry tier at US$5.95 or €5.95. Subscribers who were active before that date may still see an older rate on their own account, so a renewal notice can differ from the public table without either one being wrong.

Payment options matter in the Netherlands. Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards are documented, though prepaid cards may behave differently. Cryptocurrency and PaybyBank are listed as one-time payments that do not renew. iDEAL and SEPA were not confirmed for the Dutch checkout, and PayPal is not among the documented methods. PaybyBank on the checkout page is not iDEAL, so check what is actually on offer before you commit.

Personas, context, voice and the app question

Personas are the profiles you bring into a conversation: the name, background and role a character responds to. Free accounts get 3, Get A Taste 10, True Supporter 50 and I'm All In 100. Having several helps if you run separate fictional storylines, and none of them has to reflect who you are. A persona made of invented details also keeps more of your personal information out of chat logs.

Context capacity goes up with the tier. The latest annual comparison table gives 4,000 tokens on Get A Taste, 8,000 on True Supporter and 32,000 on I'm All In. Older premium-feature documentation still says 16,000 for the top tier, so a review that quotes 16K is probably older, not necessarily wrong. These are published capacities. They describe how much recent text the model can take into account. They don't guarantee that a character will remember events from weeks earlier.

Voice is text-to-speech, available on the top tier only and not on free accounts. Live voice calls were not confirmed. The premium documentation describes private image generation, and image content is more restricted than text. You can create your own characters, and there is also a community library of characters made by other users.

SpicyChat has removed its native iOS app and tells iPhone users to save the web app to the home screen. Android users can download an APK from the official site. Modified APK files from other sources are not the official build, and installing one means handing your login to an unknown party. PixelChat handles Google Play subscriptions, but it is a separate SFW companion app, not the Android version of SpicyChat. And a browser shortcut that works in the Netherlands tells you nothing about how well the characters write in Dutch, which nobody has established.

What the adult-content rules allow in practice

Adult text is allowed, including on the free tier, but you have to switch it on. Explicit content needs a toggle, and the settings menu has separate controls for explicit language, explicit images and blurring. Image content is more limited than text. Users must be at least 18, and the community guidelines require characters to be adults too.

Two things often surprise new users. First, a character labelled SFW won't necessarily keep the conversation that way, and SpicyChat's own FAQ says so. If you want nothing explicit, keep the explicit toggles off instead of relying on labels. Second, permissive does not mean unlimited. Illegal content is banned, and the adults-only rule covers characters as well as users. Requests outside those limits can be refused or moderated.

The service is built for fictional adult role-play, and you can tone it down with these controls. If other people can see your screen at home or at work, check the blur setting.

Privacy: what is documented and what is not

Privacy is the hardest part of the safety question for SpicyChat. When we checked the privacy policy page on 2026-10-28, its text did not display. The official pages do not confirm an end-to-end encryption commitment, a rule on training with chats, a retention period or a GDPR contact, so this review attributes none of them to the service. The operator is NextDay AI USA Inc., 2915 Ogletown Road, Suite 4642, Delaware 19713, United States.

The deletion control is documented: Profile, then Advanced, then Delete Account, then a confirmation. SpicyChat says this cannot be undone, so assume your characters, personas and history are gone once you confirm. This route comes from the help documentation; we did not demonstrate it here.

Until you can read the policy in full, share as little as possible. Use a persona with invented details, and leave out your real name, address, employer and anything else that identifies you. Assume a US company may store whatever you type. According to SpicyChat, the age-check vendor receives only the verification result, not identity images or documents, which removes one kind of exposure. Sign-up and age verification for Dutch accounts

SpicyChat requires users to be at least 18. Its age-assurance guide (checked 2026-10-29) describes a check run by a third party. Usually this is a video selfie that estimates your age, with an ID document as a fallback, though some regions use only an ID document plus a face match. The vendor says SpicyChat receives the result of the check, not the selfie or the document.

The published list of places where age assurance is mandatory includes the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Australia and some US states, and the US part keeps changing. The Netherlands is not on it. That doesn't prove a Dutch account will never be checked, because the list gets revised. Expect that you might be asked for a selfie or ID.

Before you sign up, decide whether you are willing to do a video selfie. You only need ID ready if the fallback is requested. Passing a check doesn't change any content rules, including the requirement that all characters are adults.

Cancelling, renewal and the price lock

Cancelling a card subscription takes three steps: Profile, Manage Subscription, Cancel subscription. Paid features stay on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the account drops back to the free tier. Nothing is deleted, and your characters and personas stay on the account.

Renewal depends on how you paid. Card subscriptions renew automatically. Cryptocurrency and PaybyBank payments are one-time and do not renew. SpicyChat notes that if you can't find a cancellation button, your current payment may simply not renew. Check which method you used before assuming a charge will or won't repeat.

Think about the price lock before you cancel. A subscription active before 2026-09-08 keeps its old rate only while it stays active and unchanged. Letting it lapse, switching tier or downgrading ends that rate. If you come back later, you pay the current schedule, starting at €5.95 per month. If you only want a break, compare the cost of carrying on with the cost of losing the rate.

Cancelling and deleting are separate actions. Cancelling keeps the account and its content; Delete Account removes them for good. If you want to do both, cancel first, keep the confirmation, and then delete. That way you close billing and data in separate steps you can each verify. Charges show up on bank and card statements as NDAI.CC, which makes it easier to match a payment to the service.

Red flags to weigh

None of these points proves misconduct, but each one affects whether the service is right for you.

• Any change to a pre-2026-09-08 subscription, including a downgrade, ends the older price for good.
• No end-to-end encryption, retention period or chat-training rule was confirmed when we checked the privacy policy on 2026-10-28.
• iDEAL and SEPA were not confirmed for the Dutch checkout, and the schedule doesn't say whether 21% BTW is included.
• Trustpilot showed 2.0 from 62 reviews on 2026-10-28.
• The current table gives the top tier 32,000 context tokens, but older documentation says 16,000.
• The native iOS app has been removed, so iPhone users have to use the browser.
• Third-party reviews still quote pre-update prices from US$4.95.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

SpicyChat suits adults who want fictional role-play with a large community character library and are happy to pay by card, crypto or PaybyBank. It also works for users who like having published persona and context limits. The free tier is enough to try the format, since core chat, the library and 3 personas cost nothing. Subscribers on an older rate are in a good position too, as long as they leave the plan alone.

It is a weaker choice if you need a written encryption or retention commitment before you type anything personal, or if you depend on iDEAL or PayPal. It also falls short if you want a native iPhone app or expect characters to write reliably in Dutch.
