18+ notice. This site compares AI companion and chat apps for readers in the Netherlands. Several of the apps we cover allow adult conversation or adult imagery, so the site is meant only for people aged 18 or older. When you confirm your age on your first visit, your browser stores that confirmation. We do not check identity documents and cannot verify who is reading. Each provider is responsible for the age checks inside its own app, and these vary a lot. Some rely on a simple self-declaration, while others use a third-party service with a selfie or ID document. On the page for each app, we describe the method that provider publishes.
Content boundaries. Our pages discuss fictional adult characters only. We do not list or recommend services built around sexual imagery of real, identifiable people, and we do not explain how to create such material. Creating or sharing intimate images of a person without consent is unlawful. We have deliberately left some apps off the site for reasons like these.
Affiliate disclosure. Some links on this site are affiliate links. They go through a redirect path on our domain that starts with /go/ and then send you to the provider. If you buy a subscription or credits after that, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is the same either way. A commission never changes a score, a ranking or what we write about an app. An app with no affiliate arrangement can rank above one that has one if its published facts are better.
How scores are produced. All ratings use the same scale out of 5. We calculate them from each app's published terms, pricing, policies and store listings on the dates shown on each page. The criteria are pricing transparency, free tier, cancellation and refunds, content rules, privacy, age check, platforms and language, and reputation. We have not yet run paid test accounts, so the total score is capped at 4.5. Once we add our own testing, we will add experience criteria such as memory in practice, conversation quality and support response, and remove the cap. An app gets a score only when we can rate enough criteria.
Prices and payments. We quote prices as the provider publishes them on the check date given next to each figure. If an app shows euro prices, we give them in euro; Dutch BTW at 21% applies where the app charges it. Some providers publish prices only in US dollars, and in that case we quote them in USD without converting. The amount at checkout can differ because of promotions, renewal pricing, exchange rates or tax. We do not sell subscriptions or process payments ourselves. Each provider decides whether to offer iDEAL, SEPA, credit card, PayPal or crypto, and the name on your bank or card statement may not match the app's name.
Privacy policy. The editorial team of Companion Guide NL (Artur Puleev) is the controller for personal data processed by this website, and the Dutch AVG (the EU General Data Protection Regulation) applies. The site processes very little data:
- There are no user accounts, logins or comment forms.
- We never see your conversations, characters or payment details in any companion app. The provider you sign up with holds that data under its own privacy policy.
- Your browser's localStorage keeps two settings: your display theme and your 18+ confirmation. Both stay on your device and are not sent to us. You can remove them by clearing site data in your browser.
- When you follow a /go/ link, you leave this site. The provider and any affiliate network involved may set their own cookies and are responsible for that processing. Affiliate partners may send us summary reports of referrals and sales.
- If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply to you, and we delete them once we no longer need them for that purpose.
Analytics. We may add a website analytics tool in the future. Before it goes live, we will update this section with the name of the tool, the data it collects, the legal basis and the retention period, and we will ask for consent where Dutch law requires it.
Your rights. Under the AVG you can ask for access to your personal data, or for its correction or deletion. You can also ask us to restrict processing, object to processing and request data portability. Send requests to [email protected]. If you think we handle your data incorrectly, you can also file a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection authority.
Terms of use. The content on this site is general consumer information, not legal, financial or psychological advice. We check facts on the dates shown, but providers change prices, free allowances, content rules and policies without notice. Check the current terms on the provider's own site before you pay or share personal information. We are not responsible for third-party apps, their billing, their data handling or their availability in the Netherlands. You may quote short passages with a link to the source page; reproducing whole pages requires our written permission.
Corrections. If a price, limit or policy on our pages is out of date, email [email protected] with a link to the provider's current page. We will review the source and update the page with a new check date.
